Expired medical exam

Does anyone know if embassy officials have the authority to extend expired medical exams? My family is quite large about 6 people. The embassy is telling me that their medical has expired and they can not issue visa due to that. But they are telling to redo it. They are telling me an officer has to review the file to determine whether to recommand the medical or not. So I was wondering if it is possible that the embassy can issue the visa without redoing the medical, which is very costly. Any ideas

You can see the details in the thread; basically, My wife's medical has expired and my children's medical is still good un Jan 21. So when I asked the embassy if I can go ahead and do the medical for the wife they are saying an officer has to review the case. So I was wondering if the officer can somehow approve the visa despite the expired mothers medical. Thanks
