Expired FP while I-485 still in process

Hello experts,

Our I-485 have been filed way back in 6/8/06 (Priority date is current, etc)My wife and I had our FP done on 6/29/06 and then we got a separate FP request for my then 8 year-old child, which was done on 3/13/07.

I understand that the FP expires after 15 months, so my wife and mine are expired by now.

1) Do we wait to hear from USCIS for them to request a new FP or do we initiate that request ourselves?
2) are the new FP supposed to be done before our I-485 are approved or can they be done after approval?

USCIS sends you finger printing notices when they expire. Usually your attorney gets the notice and you get a copy. It is good to check with your attorney and have him fedex the notice to you if you havent received one.
