Hi guys I have a question about date of birth. My brother-in-law applied I-130 for his spouse last year. He did a mistake in her date of birth. Her date of birth is Mar 04, 1982 (03/04/84) instead he wrote April 03,1984 (04/03/84) as in Asia you write the day first then month and finally the year. Please help us how can we correct this mistake . Should we write service center where the case is filed.
Your responses will be greatly appreciated.

Does her DOB appear correctly in her Passport and her Birth Certificate?

Did you send copies of the above documents when the I-130 was filed?

If yes, then most likely you will receive an RFE.

Meanwhile,it would be good to write to the service center where this petition was filed.Explain this mistake and request them to correct it. Make sure to attach copies of the Receipt Notice of the I-130,Passport-page showing her DOB and copy of her Birth Certificate.

Thankyou very much GCChaahiye for your response.
We already wrote to servcie center but never got any response. Can she tell the consular in the interveiw so that she is being issued the immigrant visa with corrected date of birth?

It is no surprise that you might never receive any response to your letter.

Do you have any number where you can call and speak to somebody and try to get this corrected? Try calling the National Customer Service. However, I do not think they will do anything as they are bunch of dotheads.

Try calling the service center directly.

It is better to get the problem corrected here itself rather than explaining at the consulate. The Consular officer may not even listen to any explanations and deny the case promptly.Do not take any chances with the consular officer.

Thanks GCChaahiye for your prompt response. You are right 1-800 number is useless . I don't have any direct number for service center and i don't know where to get it. If you know please let me know. The service center is Vermont .
Thanks again for your generous cooperation.
