Hello,

I am a consultant and have to move to different place atleast twice a year owing to the short term projects I work upon. Now because of this I am too reluctant to apply for "change of address". I have using one of my very good friend's address as my permanent address for GC purposes. Now I do not have any "proof of address" (bills, etc). I am not even living in the same state. Now I need ot apply for my wife's SSN - for that I will have to give the SSN Office a "proof of address" - and I do not wan't to use my current address as I am currently in a different state - I wan't to use the same address as I am using for my GC purposes. Please suggest what should I do?

Also I am using the same address for my car insurance, registration, and inspection - which are about to expire and I am getting worried? I am also worried about filing taxes this year - as none of my income will be from that state.

If someone knows the answers than please explain if these things can effect my GC case
1) can I get my car registered, inspected and insured in a different state?
2) can I get my wife SSN from a different state
3) would I still be OK using my friend's address? if not, than would it be OK for me to apply for COA every 3 months down the line - is'nt it going to mess up GC case?

Thanks

I would ask an advice from a competent lawyer.
My understanding, as for car insurance, is that you have to provide the insurance company with a physical address (ie where is your car is parked overnight). Otherwise, it may be considered as insurance fraud since the rates of premium may differ a lot even between townships of the same county. Be very careful with that since it may result in a criminal case, if insurance company smells fraud. Again, I would consult a lawyer, or at least try to gather as much info as I could from the Internet.

As for the COA form - you are fine to file it as many times as you move. It will not affect your immigration matters. But you will have to file a long list of your past addresses with the Biographical form, a supplement to I-485. Make sure it lists all the addresses for which you sent COA forms.
