Visiting/Submitting the AR-11 at the DO

Can I move now to Baltimore now? If I move now , Is my processing again going to start from the beginning?
How do I know whether my file is still in Vermont or it is in DC office.
Let me tell you about a kind of similar experience when I applied for Adjustment of Status. We moved A LOT (just married + job relocation caused us to have 5 addresses in 3 states within 3 years). Our A-File went to NSC/Oklahoma City, then TSC, then VSC/Philadelphia to where we had been relocated.

My one-way commute was 80 miles from West Chester PA to central NJ. After 6 months of exhausting commute bwe decided to move to central NJ (central NJ is not served by the Philadelphia DO, it is served by the Newark DO). I visited in person the Philadelphia PA District Office to ask them for my status 24 months after having submitted the I-485. They just found out that they were able to schedule an interview for me. I asked them whether they would be able to have my interview in Philadelphia (as they suggested) although I just moved to NJ. They were OK with that since my processing had already been extremely long. So I had the I-485 interview at the Philadelphia DO with their consent.

This would suggest that you may submit your AR-11 in person at the DO (for example Baltimore) asking while you are submitting the AR-11 about where your file is located (VSC or Alexandria DO).

I am a resident of VA (I live in a town house ) and I filed my citizen application in the month of Feb 07 , In the month of the March we gave finger prints.
March last week I changed to a new job in Baltimore. At that time I decided to move to Baltimore ,but my wife insisted not to change the address ,because our citizenship application is under process. At that time I listened to her and I didn’t relocate.
My commute is become more more horrible .Everyday more than 6 hours I am spending on commute, I am hardly getting sleep.
I am sleeping only 3 hours a day. I am doing this thinking that I can move to Baltimore after getting citizenship (I though it will be just 6 months process). Yesterday I checked this website again and noticed that DC is taking more than a year and I cant lead this type of life for another 6 months without sleep and with too much of commute
Deciding to rent this town house and move to a rental property in Baltimore.
Before coming to a conclusion need some advice some experts here. Please advice

How do I know whether my file is still in Vermont or it is in DC office. (generally when will they transfer files from Vermont office to local DC office.
If the change the address should I send my AR 11 to Vermont or to DC?(PLEASE THROW SOME LIGHT ON THIS)
If the file is Vermont ,I guess it should be OK , they can transfer my file to new place when the time comes and if the file is already in DC ,I don’t think DC office will even take initiative to look at that ,because they are lazy and they claim too much of work load.

What if I don’t get any tenant (i.e.) if I am not able to rent the town house, Still can I change my address to my rental property.
The reason why I am asking this is Water bill, Power bills and Gas bills , I will be paying from two places, (one for my town house till I rent it out and the other is to the place where I am moving (rental property) .Will that be OK?
I am not getting enough sleep and rest. I am getting old and can’t do this commute for another 6 months (if I stay in VA). And you know getting a job near the place we live is difficult.
Please advice.

Thanks in Advance

If you filed in Feb 07 .You are looking for another 6 months plus before you see light at end of the tunnel. They are processing Oct 06.Looks like only 15 days per month .I would get Po box locally and have my mail transfer there.Rest is all upto u.Good luck.Hope you have a hybrid.:)

I agree with everything already posted, but I would like to add that the process of moving districts will take somewhere in the region of 3-4 months or longer. As a minimum you need to reside within a district for 90 days before your case can be processed, and additional time will probably elapse while USCIS sends your file first to VSC (assuming it is currently at Arlington DO), then on to Baltimore DO.

If you do move, make sure to get a Maryland drivers license ASAP. The IO will check your state id (drivers lic) matches your residence address pretty much at the start of the interview, and the sooner you get it done, the sooner you can meet the 90 day requirement.

DC is one of the slowest DO. If you had moved to Baltimore in the first place, you may have been done with this process.

Save yourself hessel and move to Baltimore.

Hi
Thanks for the responses, Please clarify the following if you have any info about this. Please

1. AR-11 should be sent to London,KY as per the instructions. You don't have any choice on this.

In addition note the following General Instruction from USCIS:
"If You are a Permanent Resident and You Have a Pending Form N-400, Application for Naturalization. Currently, we cannot complete a change of address on pending Forms N-400 electronically. If you have a pending Form N-400, you’ll still need to call customer service at 1-800-375-5283 to notify USCIS to change your address on that case. Please remember, you must complete the Form AR-11. You can complete the Form AR-11 electronically on our website."

2. Having two homes (atleast paying two sets of utilities and taxes) in quite common esp. in this market. As you will physically be located in B'more, you should use that office as your DO.

HELP PLEASE.
I am in the same boat. I live in VA and I filed my application for citizenship in the first week of Feb and now I have to move to a Newark because of job relocation. I believe Newark is processing Jan07 and Feb 07. If I move now to Newark ,will they transfer my file to Newark , If transferred will they consider my case now according to my Priority date or I will they change my Priority data to a different one? or will they consider my application as a new application. When will they start processing my application, Are they going to wait for another certain amount of time (because of my move)even if my priority is current. All Senior and Gurus Please give some tips, advices and suggestion.
