Did anybody on this forum had to deal with the National Records Center? I had my nat intervierew done and was recommended for approval, however they said that they are still waiting for a file on me from the national records center. I would like to know how quick their response time is.

Thanks a lot.

No, this is a central repositery for all your INS records, especially A (or green card) files. I guess, if your immigration related file is not undergoing any processing, it is sent to this location.

Thanks.

Yes, my current A file is at the local office. However, I also had another greencard when I was younger which I had surrendered after returning to my country...abt 10-15 yrs back. They realized that this file also existed at the time of interview and ordered it before making the final decision. I am trying to figure out how long will it usually take from there to get to the local office. Should I also try getting a copy through FOIA, just to make sure that they haven't lost that file. It has been a month since I interviewed and they ordered the file abt 2 weeks back. Any experiences will be helpful...

Thanks.

I am in a similar situation having second A# file from much older time- say about 25 years. I am curious about any possible delay in My interview under N 400 due to that file being not available or so.
I like to get a copy of that file under FOIA . Can anyone here guide me what is the prodedure to be followed or what form do I fill out?

Thanks citizen 2002, I got the form
G-639 .
I wish to send out the form for getting
a copy of my old A# file.
I have three questions on this form ,
1. At Sr. no 1 , do I mark FOIA or PA for
getting a copy of old A# File ?
2. At Sr. no 6, do I give data of my present A# , date of entry etc. or my earlier A# file no. , date of entry ,port of
entry etc.?
3. Where- to what address- do I send this form?
Any tips from you guys will be welcome.
Thanks

1. It is PA request.
2. I used my old A#..I think that would make it easier to locate the file. If you use the new A#, make sure you explain that you need the old A file.
3. Depends on where your file is. Usually it should be at the NRC..and you can get the address from the link in earlier post. If you are not sure, mail it to your nearest INS office..and they will forward it for you..ofcourse that will take more time.
