Contacted Sen Kennedy's office

My case was approved on April 09. RD OCT 2001
But my wife's case is not.

We contacted Sen Kennedy's office 2.5 months ago.
After talking to 20 people my wife finally got this lady who knew what my wife was talking about.

She asked us to write a letter addressed to Sen Kennedy detailing everything with all the numbers and dates.

We send the letter, and called her back after 2 weeks.

She said that she had sent an enquiry to VSC, and she will call us if and when she hears something.

Needless to say we did not hear from her, and nor did my wife's case got approved.

In other words we had a lot of hopes and nothing happened.

What are you suggesting Jinnah, seems useless contacting Kennedy office

Have you tried Senator Kerry's office. Yoda and Clueless all got help from him.

Also, you can find out your district congressman at www.house.gov.

I thought Kennedy would be more helpful

I thought Sen Kennedy would be more helpful for these reasons:

He is very pro-immigration, even tried to single handedly block money for special registration.

He is senior senetor

He is not running for President, so his office might be less busy

etc

But I can try contacting Sen Kerry now, and see what happens.
Maybe his office has a different procedure of handling these cases.

I dont want to piss off BCIS by sending many requests from different avenues, and get red-flagged or something like that.

I guess I will give Sen Kennedy's office another call and decide what to do from the response I get from his office.

I contacted Congressman office today. The lady answered my phone is called Jackie Lavender(medford office). She's very nice. She took down my phone number, address, EAC number and said she will call VSC today. She said usually it takes several days for VSC to get back to them. But as soon as she hears from them, she will call me. I told her I want to know if my security check has passed. She said yes, that could be problem. I told her I want to know why I haven't received 2nd fp notice. Then I said since BCIS phone service was centralized, I can't get any information from them at all. She said yes, we know. And she said absolutely they want to help, even if the phone service is not centralized. She never asked me about my receipt date, VSC processing time, or if you break any law(see clueless123's experience ). Very nice. It's first time I contact a congressman, and to my surprise, they are very helpful. Hope I can get some tidbits back next week. :)

You never know if your case is pending there because VSC forgot to send you notice. Like someone on this board, second FP notice, they just forgot to send it out! Like my H-1 visa, was approved very fast, but they forgot to send out the notice for 2 months I've been waiting only to know it was approved long time ago. If I didn't call, will never get it.

I suggest Sep/Oct/Nov cases applicants, call your local congressmen now. Don't wait there hoping something miracle to happen. It's not going to.

But don't abuse the power, don't call if your case hasn't passed the processing time frame.

I don't know if it's correct, because I haven't heard back from Jackie yet. But I feel congressman is more willingly to help you than senators. Perhaps they don't have a long line waiting, they are more close to you, and they need your vote more.

Good Luck!! dengdeng. Hope you will get an answer and approval sooner.
Is Edward J. Markey your local congressman?

i got my notice last week and did my FP today, actually scheduled for 08/06.. My earlier FP was 03/14/02
I have been tracking all your posts, don't worry man. Your approval is on the way!!!!

"MA" in Hindi means Mother.......

Response from Congressman's Office

William Delahunt's office called me back. I was impressed
with their speed. She said she spoke to BCIS about my case.

They said it would be assigned to an officer sometime next
week. After that I have to wait for 60 days. They also said
the chances of getting the approval is 85%.

Now how can I trust they will process my case in 60 days?
Each time when I called, they told me it would be processed
in a month or two. But nothing happened. I've waited for over
21 months. This means I have to wait for almost 2 years?

But I appreciate the kind assistance from the Congressman's
office.

Another remark: Edward J. Markey is a great person. He has
a strong sense of justice and compassion. Any of his
constituent will get good help from him. You guys are all lucky
living in his district.

congressman's office is more helpful definitely.

Clueless123, did you ask them about your security check passed or not. Seems your case is not assigned. But you're Oct RD, should be assigned already! It seems they request expedite process on your case.

60 days is a formality. They always say that, in case there's a
RFE.

why they say it's 85%?

Hi dengdeng:

They said I have passed the security check and everything
seems OK. They said 85% because they cannot guarantee
my approval.

The Congressman's office asked them if they could speed up
my case. They said no because a lot of people are similar to me.
