Hi Everybody,
My company plans to apply for labor certification for me but I see a potential problem and so would appreciate advice regarding that.
I work as a software developer and have a masters degree in IT from USA. My bachelors degree from India was in Mechanical Engineering.
When I was in the final semester of bachelors I got a job offer in software development and started working before completing all the courses of the final semester. I worked full time for 2 yrs and also completed my final semester during that period. I worked from 1998-2000 and my bachelors degree also shows the year 2000.
My present US employer hired me on the basis of that 2 years experience and my masters degree.
I've been working with them for 2 years now but as I understand experience with the employer filing for labor certification can't be counted.
And the job description requires 2 years of experience. So my question is that give my situation could my 2 years exp (before fully completing my bachelors in mechanical engg.) be considered valid for labor certification and subsequent green card purposes with the present employer.
Or should I be looking for a new job.
Thanks in advance.
Sonu
