Expediting Advaced Parole

Hello all,

I filed the I-130 and I-485 concurrently on March 25th (Details of my application on trackitt)

I am currently a 4th-year PhD student on a F-1 visa. At the time of my application, I did not foresee having to leave the country at any point over the next 12 months so I didn't submit the Advanced Parole application. However, I just got an opportunity to attend a conference in Tel Aviv, Israel at the end of June.

I'm wondering if anyone can give me advice about whether or not I can get AP approved by then and/or if I can just leave and come back with my F-1 student visa.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Once you file the I-485, your F1 visa is useless for returning to the US. And leaving the US without AP or H1B/H4/L1/L2 will result in your I-485 being denied for abandonment.

AP generally takes 2-3 months; if you apply now it might be approved just before the end of June. Submit it tomorrow with overnight mail.

I-485 applicants should always apply for AP unless they have unlawful presence that would prevent them from returning to the US. There's no extra fee for the AP.
