Get a formal letter from your boss with your company's letterhead. Overnight that with a letter explaning why and reason behind it. Send it to the place where you sent your RTD application.
5/10 it will work, however, medical emergencies are most liekly to get through faster. Certificate of Medical Illness is what USCIS calls and you need that from a hospital(even from outside U.s) if its valid.
