I am currently on an H1 visa with a university. If I transfer my H1 visa to a non-cap-exempt job when the quota is available (i.e. applying in/after april for H1 transfer from October 1st), is the transfer process like a regular transfer (i.e. like transferring from a non-cap-exempt to another non-cap-exempt) or are there any special/extra fees to be paid by the employee or the employer? Are there any special procedures different from a regular transfer?
I'm asking this question because while getting a university H1 the fees paid by employer are minimal (around $200 as opposed to around $1200), so I was wondering if they would charge the balance now from the new employer?
