i am canadian pr landed and currently in india. my US drivers license is expiring in march of 2005. however, i am planning to move to canada only after august 2005. in that case, will i still be able to exchange my expired drivers license for a canadian drivers license? what should i do now to make it possible for me to exchange my US drivers license to get a canadian drivers license? also, i do have my indian car drivers license as well. please advice if anyone knows real facts, thanks.

You should have had the US license for more than 2 years to exchange it for a cdn license. If less than 2 years then you need to make up for it by submitting your indian license.

i am prepared to do that. but my question is will they accept an expired license which was more than 4 years old, when it expired? my IL state license was issued in 2001 and expires in march 2005. but i am planning to go to canada only in august 2005. in that case, can i exchange my expired IL state license (which was valid for more than 4 years) for a canadian license in august 2005?

Hopefully it should work out ( also depends upon the province) but you may also take your driving record from the local DMV/DOL . Thats helps a long way
