hi, folks:

I put a post before regarding my RFE on employment letter. My employer refused to put any word like "permanent, unlimited duration, or no fixed term" onto my employment confirmation letter. My employer just states in the employment letter that I am a research associate, and it is a full time position. My lawyer said the letter is very risky for NSC, since they are very tough. In my previous post, many people said stating full time position is good enough. I'm really worried. I think I have to the employment letter to try my luck. :(

From your post it sounds like you are working in a university. If you are then you need to take some professional help(lawyer) in drafting the letter. The best bet would be to write that it is a full time position and that they have no intentions to cut the post. It is the subtle language usage which will be the work around for"permanency". Some other helpful pointers would be explaining that you are doing a great job and there is no intention to cut the position. Also mentioing that contract letter(if you have submitted it) is purely given to cover the univ's butt for suits. All these will be some aspects that you might want to mention in the letter. But again I am not a professional .... so contact a lawyer like khanna for a second opinion on this. I'll bet you will not regret shelling those extra dollars. Good Luck and keep us posted

you could ask your university to do this

Give you an EVL that states that the position is permanent and at the end they can say its "at-Will" and either of you can terminate it any point of time

This is how my EVL was and mine was approved
