I am a H1 employee for a MNC. After reading Joe and other, at various forums I found out that you can start LLC, appoint somebody else to work but you can not perform anything for your company (somebody mentioned not even a phone call for company's business)..

Now, I will skip discussion on law as there are various experts here, and I know nothing as compared to them, but here is my simple question. What is the stardway way to do business in USA. If you are on H1 and not ready to go on concurrent H1, then does it mean that you have to wait until greencard before you start doing something in that direction.

I have good tech ideas and I want to try them out but I am not sure how to this here. Legally, I can not work voluntarily for that company. So how does all these people made gr8 start ups. By Quitting thier job,I dont think so. There should be some way.

I understand that its better to consult lawyer but if i am thinking of starting company with only 500$ then obviously i dont have that kind of Hr rate money so i can not go to them. That's why I am trying these forums.
Though my post seems messed up, I hope someone will have some answer for me.

Thanks,

Kedar

Hi,
I read ur reply to my post(basing business in India). But for me, starting it in my relatives' name is not a possible option(all working or on pension). What I wanted to ask was, do you know any good sites which give info. on this.
A friend of mine who started a company like this, said he had to give a 100,000 deposit in the bank in the company's name; later the govt. changed the policy and made it 500,000- he was saying. But my Dad, who consulted some people in India said he did not hear about a deposit, but there is an advance sales tax.
So I'm trying to find more info on this, if you have any idea please let me know.

Thanks,
Debi

nope, those were not bribes that I was speaking about. Though bribes are there everywhere, I got information from a close friend who registered his business through a registered CPA. And my Dad too had consulted close friends who are in the know how of these things.

If someone has any useful information, please reply.
