Not to scare anyone.. just want to pass on some info that's on several weather sites.
I know its a non-immigration issue, but I think our safety has more importance than certain things like immigration in life. Please, if you think this information is not for you and a waste of time reading, please ignore it. Again this is just to make every one aware of the intensity of this hurricane(not to mean you are not aware of it already) and to take some precautionary measures.
Very powerful Hurricane Isabel currently
poised to make
almost
a DIRECT HIT on Baltimore/Washington on Thursday PM /
Friday AM.
According
to the latest computer models, the Eye is expected to
be over
Baltimore/Washington Friday at 1-2am. THIS IS A
VERY, VERY, VERY
DANGEROUS
HURRICANE, and NOT TO BE TAKEN LIGHTLY.
Remember how hurricane Andrew flattened south
Florida in 1992 - This
has
the same potential.
For the current projected hit:
http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/refresh/graphics_astorm13+shtml/150858.shtml?
We may not have power, telephones, or water for DAYS.
This storm is
powerful
enough to do SEVERE structural damage to homes and
buildings.
IF YOU LIVE IN THE UPPER LEVELS OF AN APARTMENT OR
HOUSE, PLAN TO STAY
WITH SOMEONE WHO HAS A BASEMENT. PACK A SUITCASE.
MOVE YOUR CAR AWAY
FROM
AREAS WITH LARGE, OLD TREES.
Right now, Hurricane Isabel is fluctuating between a
category 4 and 5
hurricane, -as strong as Hurricanes Andrew (1992 in
FL) and Camille (1969
in
MS). This is the kind of storm that levels homes...as
Andrew did in
south
Florida...
Current projections hint that it will hit Cape
Hatteras, NC, Virginia
Beach,
VA and make its way UP the Chesapeake Bay to hit
Washington, DC,
Baltimore
and Harrisburg, PA. The projections take it JUST WEST
of DC/Baltimore -
which is WORSE for us, because the Northeast quadrant
of the storm is the
strongest. Winds may gust past 150 MPH- imagine a
Freight Train slamming
into your house- that's the effect this may have.
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE TAKE HEED..
SAFETY TIPS

for each hurricane
hazard. In certain circumstances the safest areas may
not be your home
but

HOUSE IF THE

YOU...CRAWL INTO THE
BATHTUB AND COVER YOUR HEAD WITH A MATTRESS.
****REMOVE ALL OUTSIDE THINGS - They will become
Missles in winds like
these, and will easily break windows.
Determine escape routes from your home and places to
meet. These should
be
measured in tens of miles rather than hundreds of
miles.
Have an out-of-state friend as a family contact, so
all your family
members
have a single point of contact.
Make a plan now for what to do with your pets if you
need to evacuate.
SHELTERS DON"T USUALLY ACCEPT PETS.
Post emergency telephone numbers by your phones and
make sure your
children
know how and when to call 911.
