Hello everybody,
I need to share this because I had almost canceled my appointment but some reassuring words on various forums made me hold on to the existing one. My mother's birth date was wrong on DS 156 and I later discovered it could not be changed.
After hearing some very helpful advice, all she did was mention it to the person who scans the document at the consulate and he corrected it. As a safe guard, she had also taken another copy of the form with correction.
Also my h1b was not stamped as I moved from f1 to opt to h1b in october 2005. That did not pose a problem either.
As long as your parents come across as honest, law abiding, financially strong individuals, everything else is secondary.
