Envelope size and either one or two to DOS

Does anyone know how many envelopes to be sent to DOS with DS 3035. I read in a few threads it should be ''two''. But my printed DS3035 instructions say that ''self addressed stamped envelope''. Bit confusing.

Also pls inform me abt the size.

Thanks

The DOS traditionally asks for 2 SASEs, one to send you your case number in, and the other to send your final recommendation. But if you do it online, you will already have gotten your case number, so they only need to send you your final recommendation, which is why they ask for only one.

As for the size, just a basic 9.5" by 4" envelope (basic letter size) should be fine.

If you look at page # 3 (instructions page of the DS3035 form, step #7) of the PDF packet the system created for you you'll see that is says "Two envelopes" , although the previous reply is correct, that is, one of the envelopes was traditionally used to send you your case number, etc...

Size was very confusing to me and I posted a question regarding this a while ago with no replies. Technically a Legal size envelopes should be able to hold (no folding) a legal size paper that measures approximately 81/2 by 14 inches. The envelope is then about that size (they are sold as legal size-Got them at Office Depot)).

However When I asked at the post office I was told it is the regular envelope (4 1/8" x 9 1/2), that is technically not a legal size but a SZIE 10.

In summary, I'm still not sure which one should be sent. I personally sent the two types.

So hav u recieved recommendations frm DOS yet?....If yes, it must be clear which one is better and how many they need.

Yes, 'NewReadyToHelp' I saw ur thread regarding envelope but no replies. I think ppl who hav got fav. recommendations from DOS, they know better than anyone abt the size of envelope.

Thanks though

I sent two regular envelopes (4 1/8" x 9 1/2) to my lawyer (I went through a lawyer for a different reason, it's not really required for a basic J-1 waiver process). I haven't gotten the rec yet, as my application is currently pending sponsor views. It's possible the lawyer replaced my envelopes with her own self-addressed ones, but I haven't asked, which is why I really don't have a definite answer.

I bet you that different applicants just send different sized envelopes (either like the one I sent or bigger), and the DOS just uses whatever the applicant sends. I assume that they don't really care.
