Entry in USA after laid off

I have a tricky situation, I came back to india after laid off. Now if I need to go back to USA, can I enter in usa using Portability provision without any visa stamp from new company or I need to wait to get a new stamp to enter in usa.
 
I guess you can enter with your old VISA "if it is still valid".

While entering in USA , show your new H1 approval and get the I-94 date according to that
 
H1B to B2 Visitor visa

So is it advisable to change to Visitor Visa and enter USA. Has anybody faced any problem while changin from H1B to Visitor visa, also if u have got a visistor visa this way, how much time you got approved for,
Any suggestion would be appreciated.
