Entering US with I551 stamp only even if you have the GC

My family left US with I551 stamp on their passports. After they left, the Green Cards arrived. Do I need to send the Green Card over to them for them to enter the US.

Given the equal status of I551 stamp and Green Card, I don't think this should be an issue. But just want to make sure.
