As my I-485 notice/receipt dates were at least 2 months older than the I-485 processing dates, I have called up USCIS. (The online status says "Results of your finger printing have been received blah blah blah"). They have started an enquiry and told me I will hear some thing in 30 days. I have confirmed that it is 30 calendar days.
Now it seems the system is stuck in that state as far as my I-485 is concerned. It is more than 30 calendar days but the system still says 30 days have not completed. The representatives say they can not override that and I just need to check back after few more days.
Has anyone encountered this? If so, is there any way to get around this or at least get hold of someone who can give more details on the case.

they didn't let me talk after three inquiries, because the "system" didn't prompt her to forward me to an officer!
