Text: NO ENOUGH DOCUMENTS TO PROVE OUR BONA FIDE
Hello
I seek for information because we had the first interview 3 days ago. This interview arrived so fast...we got married on January 2011, my husband and I prepared all the documentation and we filed at the begin of March. They sent us an appointment letter on July...and after a month we went to the interview.
A little bit of our story: I came to USA with a F1 visa (student) at the end of 2007 (I have never been illegal, I have never been arrested, I've always paid my bills on time, I also had an outstanding college history - I won awards - I was in the Dean' list - graduate with high honor - accepted to a graduate very select program...and I could go on. I am not trying to show up...but just give you a picture). I met my husband more or less a year later, on my second year in school. After a while we fell in love. I was sharing an apartment with another student at that time and my husband move in with more or less six month before we got married. We found an apartment for just the two of us few weeks after the wedding and we moved. The lease is under his name, some bills too and other under my name. I took his last name and he joins my bank account. We have no car (I know it sucks!!!) and adding me to his health insurance was incredible expensive (760$ per month).Recently I started work part time but I am still in school; therefore, basically I am able to pay for my tuition with my check, and he takes care of rent and the rest. It is not easy but as many couple has done before us...we make sacrifices for the future.
The point of telling all this is that we did not have enough documents to prove to the IO our bona fide and the IO was not totally convinced. The IO acknowledge that we haven't had enough time to prove our life together...but I also would add that we did not have enough financial resources to "have" things together (without mention that immigration papers and medical we had to provide are very expensive). The IO also put an hold because the doctor that I took my medical with did not filled correctly the documents...(incredible right???), but at the end of the interview the IO said:" I will go through this documents you left me, I will wait for the correct medical one, and I think I might reschedule another interview".
My husband and I were very sad after the interview, not just because it did not go well, but, as he told me: "I cannot prove my love for you because no papers are saying that?"...we almost hoped to be separated because asking us about our real life together would have been much easier to prove. (Also if we heard terrifying stories...like it is a torture interrogation). As soon we got home we told to each other that after all we do not care if it will take time as far as they won't separate us, but the idea that this could happen kind of scared us; therefore we started to look for other options for proving our bona fide. We saw that we can ask family and friends to write statements, bring work stubs with the "emergency contact" name of the spouse...and so on.
Can I do that? Can I send those to the IO altogether with the medical papers? Someone has advices? or know what we have to expect? How long is going to take?
Thank you everyone for listen to me...

Hi ,
I dint mean to be negative, I am just trying you to see reality . I am in proceedings very long time (23 years)...As far as interview concern you should be very careful...There is possibility that Immigration agent show up on your door step, you better be together in same your personal apartment that you live in and have prove that you are renting it.
IO usually look very careful on your behavior, this are very well trained to detect any miss match. Its OK having correct and all papers , but mostly they look your behavior , after they ask you questen.
Don't push it with documents til they ask for it ,If your marriage is reall don't have to worry . Usually peeps don't worry to much they can see that. , IO's they know how expensive life , health insurance, car & car insurance is , they know all this , and can tell can you afford it ore not , also would be dumb having health insurance , car insurance, than they will look where is money came from and why they need all this ,all you have just let them know that you cant afford it.. I would not go crazy with any papers , I would just make them ready .Don't try to show how desperately you want their approval.
I thought I will have most difficult interview ,I had to go throughout Stoke interview, that's when they separate you and grill and grill, than when they done they ask you again. My interview was only 15 mins and my wife's 10. You cant fake love , and them with documents.
But we did not care cause our marriage is for real and you can tell when my wife ore I talk about each other.....When you talk about your husband he can see everything what you feel what you think.....If you ever watched TV series "Criminal mind" that's what like this IO 's are very well trained. I want to let you know that you should be in alert , second time is going to be more difficult. Just relax and hope that IO is not going to be in bad mode. The more time pass the better is than you can get unconditional GC, like this is going to be 0nly 2 years cause you are not married more than 2 years. After 2 years you have to go througth lifting condition. After he have to file .
IO's knows all cliches/stilles/versions. Relax and enjoy your love and marriage in this beautifully country.

I kind of second what bassman is saying. Get as many documents as you can in case they call you for the second interview. No need to show desperation to them at this point. You might even be surprised, once he gets the medical he might even approve you without any further RFE or interview.

Good luck!
