engagement and traditional marriage

Hi!

I am a green card winner. I got engaged on 30/06/2022. After that we unlocked the ds 260 form and entered him in it. My case number range is 5***. Hope to have a traditional marriage next year. But if there is an interview before that, do we have to say that we are engaged? When we put the photos in the proof of relationship in the proof album, do we have to put them as engagement photos as well? Will it be a problem if we don't have a traditonal marriage?

You don’t have any sort of marriage yet, so he can’t be a derivative on your case. A fiancé does not have any privilege related to immigration. You need to get married legally for him to be added to your case.

We are legally married. We signed in front of the registrar. But we did not have a religious ceremony. I am asking will it be a problem?

You said you were engaged then updated the DS260 and wanted to know whether to tell them you’re engaged. Now you say you’re married already? Why would you ask if you had to tell them you’re engaged if you’re already married?

Anyway, hard to give a blanket answer because I don’t know your culture. Solid proof of a relationship is what matters.
