endorsement of spouse's name for the passport

from what I understand - the US consulates need the name of the principal sponsor on the H4 applicant's passport.
Can anyone please provide more information about this?
Is this to be done from the local passport office that is listed on the H4 applicant's passport or on H1 applicant's passport

Some consulate requires that, not all of them, contact them (sending email) and inquire about that.

They are good in reply email (you won't belive, but I have personal experience)

I think it doesn't matter what local passport office you need to go, but usually if you want to update h4 appilicant pp then go to that local pp office.
