Been a silent reader of the forum. Thanks for all the valuble input from every one [calling VSC, namechecks in particular].
My experience with VSC is good as I called VSC very sporadically and hence did not have any problems and always got polite answers [may be I got lucky].
I also engaged congress liaison to make enquires every couple of months and senator [not useful, but for a letter to state as much]. The congress liaison was very helpful, but could not help as much as I would have liked. no one wants to touch namecheck stating national security but for whatever its worth, kept me informed of the status.

485 RD/ND: middle of July 2004 [concurrent I140 & 485]
Namecheck request date: July 27, 2004
Namecheck Cleared : ~Feb 2006
140 cleared ~Feb 2005, FP notice ~Mar 2005, did FP Mar 23, 2005
Did not have lot of LUDs [Mar 29, 2005 [FP cleared]; Nov 01, 2005 [book keeping
]; Apr 24, 2006 [no message change].
485 AD: May 09, 2006 [self, spouse, daughter]
GC CO: May 09, 2006 [self and spouse]
GC CR: May 13, 2006 [self and spouse]
there was an LUD for daughter on May 10, 2006. No message change.
Called VSC y'day using the usual technique to enquire about passport stamoing and was told her biometic is sent for scanning [she did not have her photos taken yet by USCIS. so not sure which biometric they are going to scan
] and may take couple of weeks to receive the card. Asked us to wait for 30 to 60 days 
before calling again.
Hope I covered most of the relevant info. Will update with daughters case.
