Emplyment after the green card

My -485 application based on NIW/EB2 is pending and I\'m expecting approval by September 2002. Probably, I\'ll be able to keep my present job until getting the green card. I\'m not sure I\'ll get the job in NIW field in the future. What will happen if I work in other field other than NIW field? Should I face any problem in getting citizenship? I\'ll keep all the rejection letter to show that I didn\'t get a job in the NIW field. Any inputs will be highly appreciated.

Thanks Abu_lafya. But my question after getting the green card. Since my application is based on the NIW, I don\'t need any employer to get the geen card.I\'m supposed to work in the NIW field after getting green card. But if I don\'t get a job in NIW field, what will happen in the citizenship application? or how long I have to work in NIW field?

It is always about the intent. If you intent to work in the NIW
field but you actually change, you are fine. But the inetnt
is a state of mind that people can only guess with circimstancial
evidence like how long you keep working in your NIW field.

For that purpose, the longer you work in your field,
the better. But there is no clear rule about how long.
Therfore you\'ll never get an answer. One other thing
is that at least before AC-21, an employer-sponsored
PR is supposed to start to work for the employer immediately
after getting the GC. But I don\'t think the NIW-based
PR need to start to work immediately in the NIW (correct
me if I am wrong). So you can also argue you will eventually
work in the NIW field even if you do not now
