I have my interview scheduled on Tuesday and as I was going through the various items on the N-400 form trying to figure out what could trip me up I realized that I have a rather unusual situation when it comes to my employment history. I have essentially been doing the same job for the same company for the last 10-11 years. However the name of the company has changed a few times.
Here's the timeline
1999 - company A filed for my employment-based GC
08/2000 - my I-485 is filed.
02/2001 - company A spins off company B that includes the division I am in. The company name in my W-2 changes to B. However B remains a wholly-owned subsidiary of company A.
07/2001 - my I-485 is approved.
06/2002 - company B is now completely independent of company A.
The attorneys who handled my GC case back then talked about filing "successor of interest" paperwork when the spin-off happened by I don't have any proof that they did. Could I be grilled on this matter and if so what kind of supporting documents do I need ? To make matters worse company C recently merged with company B and the combined entity took on the name of company C. So company B no longer even exists.
Fortunately these are pretty large companies employing thousands of people and there is enough information online to support my claims. For now I am just printing out whatever stuff I can find online but has anyone gone through a similar situation ? If so, should I anticipate any problems ?
Thanks,
-KM
