1) Can a company file for my Greencard, without me joining them? At what stage of the process would I need to join them?

2) Can the Greencard process go on with this company without they filing for my H-1B

3) Can a company owned by my sister or brother-in-law file for my employment based greencard?

4) Till what stage of the process I can be outside USA. In what stage of the GC process do I need to return to USA?

5) If I want my future wife to get GC as well; by what stage of the application I should be married? At what point in the GC process it would make sense to halt the process, in such a scenario.

6) During the GC process, at what point can I change employers?

7) Change in position held (during GC Process), whether at same employer or a new one.
If Company A files for my GC for Sr. Software Engineer position, and after getting my labor approved and 6 months after concurrent filing, if I join Company B as a Project Manger, can I continue with the existing application?

8) Could you suggest any website/books which details the employment based GC process.

I found following Immigration books on Amazon.com; Let me know if anyone has any experience with these:

(i) U.S. Immigration Made Easy $31.5
book looks good, authors have dubious distinctions
(ii) U.S. Immigration & Citizenship $17.5 - good reviews on Amazon

Yes. Preferred is to join after you get EAD. However you may defer it until you get GC in hand.

Yes

Yes.

You can be outside US for entire process. You have to come to US within 6 months of getting GC(or one year??? - check with other sources.)

Before your 485 is approved if in USA, else before filing for CP.

Anytime.

What do you mean by that?


If Company A files for my GC for Sr. Software Engineer position, and after getting my labor approved and 6 months after concurrent filing, if I join Company B as a Project Manger, can I continue with the existing application?


It will go dowwn the drain.
