Employer question re: H-1B/green card

I have sponsored an H-1B visa for an employee that expires in August 2011, and a Green Card application has also been filed by us on her behalf. It is my understanding that all materials have been submitted and we are waiting for a response. It will have been 180 days before the H1-B expires since the Green Card application was received by INS. We are having difficulty maintaining her level of pay because she keeps losing clients and has also enrolled in school so has limited her availability to work for us. What are our options for reducing her pay between now and the expiration of her visa, and if we don't file an extension and she doesn't receive her green card by then are we finished? Thank you!
