Employer Harrasement

Hello everyone,

I don't know if anyone else has the same problem as I have but there has to be a way to fix unsrupulous employers. The problem is that I can't go to INS as it would be like cutting the branch where I am sitting at this time.

I just got my labor cleared and have given the papers to the lawyer to file the I-140 (god knows when he will file it. We are left at his mercy as they never respond to any of your emails or voice mails), at this time I lost my job and was out for a month. I managed to find another job with "X" amount as rate, in the meantime my previous client had another opening and he called be back, so it was both at the same time. I choose the previous client over the new one as I know the environment better and assumed that my employer will pay me the same rate we had discussed with him as the other job I found. They tactfully had be call the new job person and cancelled it and then told me they can only give "X" amount as rate. I found out what the billing rate was and from what I get, they are keeping 35% of the rate and I have to pay for the medicla too which is very high. So I get only 65% and pay for medical which is very unfair. when I tried to ask this to the employer he got so upset after I told him what the rate was and started cornering me and threating me saying that he will take away the job from the client if I push him any further and I have to take what he gives. I am left with no choice now getting punished for no reason. I would have been better off with the other job (rates were higher than this) and they made me loose that and then do a check-mate on me.

I am so depressed and don't know whom to tell this out as it was my fault too not confirming the rate before hand. I am at the end of my 6th year now and have just filed for the 7th year extn., also I have just given the papers for the I-140, in this situation I would be creating more trouble for my own filings if I go to the INS now.

What other ways do we have to tackle this as there is no formal HR dept with my consulting company as it's all one. They might be hand in hand with the employer. I can't even tell them how I feel, it's that bad.

What do you guys suggest. Advise is appreciated.

Thanks,
GM
