if i want to visit india for an emergency during the naturalization process, what will be the process..I have booked tickets to india for jan 2012 and if I get my oath,i might be getting it on dec. and i am wondering whether there will be enough time to get visa and ge the new passport before jan. will it be good, if i think there is no enough time for getting visa, dont go for oath evenif application is approved!! or does it matter??... if naturalization application is appoved , and donot finish oath, can i go india with my indian passport and come back with us green card

If i request for a rescheduling the oath, do I still need to be present in the US from the time of approval to the time of oath or I can visit?

You can travel abroad while waiting for the oath date, as long as the trips are not so long or frequent that your continuous residence is jeopardized.

When you depart from the US in January 2012, how long do you expect to be away? 1 month? 3 months? 6 months or more?

i am only going for a month..uscis website states that "Reside continuously within the United States from the date of application for naturalization up to the time of naturalization"..does this mean physically present or dont break the continouity of residence like going out of country for more than 6 mnths or so...

They mean the latter ... you are not required to be physically present the whole time. A one month trip won't be a problem.
