Emergency Appointment Criteria - Indian Consulates

blahblah

Registered Users (C)
Hi,

My case pertains to H1b visa revalidation. I am planning to go India in Jan and it looks like ALL the appointments in ALL the Indian consulates for the latter half of Jan are gone.

1. Have I missed the boat? Am I too late to schedule any late Jan date for any Indian consulate?

2. There is an Emergency Appointment option. H1b revalidation would qualify under "H and L visa renewals for applicants who are already working in the U.S and are returning to their jobs." My question is:

a. Which documents do I need to produce to satisfy the "documentary evidence" clause?

b. Can I send these documents in advance so that I can be ensured that there wont be a snafu regarding the "Emergency Appointment" criteria?

c. How do I go about scheduling an "Emergency Appointment"?

Your valuable thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Re:

Hi.
Getting a H1B-Revalidation (currently working in USA & planning to go for a vacation in India), this confirms an appt. for you in Emergency appt clause. I believe you will be taking all necessary documents including

- Current employment verification letter, which should state that your current work is critical in company's point of view & you need to be there in USA back by ------ date after your vacation in India.
- Plus all other necessary supportive documents

I am seeing lots of dates open in all US Consulates (in India), which are newly opened in Oct, Nov & Dec 2006. I also read that US consulate is requesting prior appt. applicants to pre-pone their existing interview dates as more dates are open in Oct, Nov & Dec 2006. So do not worry, you will get an appt. slot soon. Keep chking the vfs website.

Do share your experience in this forum after your visa approval.

Best of luck.
