Emergency Advanced Parole

I am on H1B without visa stamp. I will be filing I-485 with 131 sometime this year. Once I apply for 485, then I will not be able to go to Mexico/Canada to get the stamp (?) So between the day I apply 485 and the day i get my Advance parole, I will be stuck here.

I am trying to decide what i should do - go to Mexico now and get the stamp so that I can leave US while the AP is pending... or just pray for the AP to get approved quickly. My mother is not too well and if she needs immediate help, I'd like to be able go visit her quickly. I am getting worried about the time it might take to get my AP. On one of the immigration websites states that for an emergency case, you can go to local USCIS office and get an emergency AP within 2-3 days if you can prove. I looked on USCIS website but I don't see anything about that. Anybody ever tried or heard of such thing?

Emergency AP can be issued in very rare cases. Generally this is reserved for deaths or critical illnesses, things of that nature. I've never spoken to anyone who has actually received one but maybe someone else can help.
