Does anyone know email address of Mr. Badwal @ Chicago Consulate?

I need to inquire about status of my OCI application. Its been almost 70 days since my OCI app reached Chicago and its hasn't been acknowledged yet. I don't understand why its taking such a long time whereas other consulates are taking half the time to complete the process from soup to nuts.

All contact information is available at the following URL - http://chicago.indianconsulate.com/conmap.htm.
BTW OCI/PIO inquiries can only be done by email at pic@indianconsulate.com.

As somebody else on this discussion board responded earlier the consulate has been hit with heavy request of applications thereby increasing processing times. I got a response for PIO card processing which has doubled from 20 business days to 6 weeks because of applications rush.

Good luck!

DMAX,

I e-mailed pic@indianconsulate.com yesterday and Mr Badwal replied back. He says they are flooded with applications now and so the processing times have increased. He also said that currently they are only processing OCI applications recd in the first week of FEB 2007 !!

I am exactly one month behind you, in terms of dates. It looks like I shouldn't expect any movement until mid July or so. Hopefully you should see some movement in early June, if not earlier.

Its frustrating, but there is little we can do about it :(
Hang in there, and do keep us posted as soon as you see any movement.

Thanks !!

Wow....that is almost like N-400 processing times without any additional delays. I had sent our applications for OCI in first week of January and received our US passports with the visa and the OCI cards by end of March. Obviously since that time the consulate in Chicago has been flooded with OCI/PIO applications dramatically increasing processing times. Hopefully like the US passport processing times which prompted people to apply in advance, this increase in processing times for OCI/PIO will prompt people to apply in advance of their imminent travel specially since there is no expedite process.

I guess you are right. If he responded that they are flooded with apps and inquries then I shouldn't expect anything different response from him.

Perhaps I will check in Early June.

Thanks everyone.

You are right - almost like N400 processing times. However, with N400, things were so much better. Progressively, we saw ourselves moving forward - the basic receipt notice, then fingerprinting, then interview, and finally oath !! As we crossed each of these stages, it seemed like crossing a 'milestone' !!

Here, even to get the basic acknowledgement is taking so long !!
