Elimination of Concurrent filing

Read on immigration-law.com that there were rumors that concurrent filing process was going to be eliminated.

Does anyone have any idea about this and what the expected time frame for this would be like? How far along is this proposal?

My lawyer is in the middle of preparing I-140 and I-485 applications and I don't want get caught by this.

I heard about this too, but don't know if/when it will go into effect. Try to file before the end of May and you should be okay.

Even if by some bad luck, you miss the opportunity to file concurrently, then make sure your 140 is filed Premium. In that case, it will be approved in 1-2 weeks (unless there are RFEs) and you can file 485 right after, thus virtually mimicking concurrent filing.

Basically, even if this rumor is true, it'll make a huge difference only to those people who file 140 the regular way. If you file Premium, it isn't a big concern.
