Hello All,
I am on verge of giving up applying for EB2-NIW or EB1 A (Self petition).
I had seen that Mitt Romney's entire immigration section of website talked about advanced degrees and also about removing country quotas.
It said In quotes:
"At the same time, we have set the caps on high-skill visas so low that, for some countries, an entire year’s quota has been filled in an hour. Mitt Romney will ask Congress to raise the caps on visas for highly skilled immigrants.
Many country caps—or limits on immigrants from specific countries—are so low, that America is losing some of the best and brightest to our international competitors. Mitt Romney will work with Congress to raise the country caps. "

Now that elections are over. Not sure how would it look like when congress is formed.
At least the Republican immigration vision, OR whoever (even Democrats) who read the immigration section of Romney Campaign website would realize the need for innovation, and Keeping the Technical advanced degree immigrants to work and stay in US, thereby creating jobs.
Before this i heard and was told by lawyers who panicked that they were rejection self petitions of PhDs, for scientists working in good firms, asking more & more international award, citations, publications, patents and recognition.
These were the same lawyers who got EB1-B's for 2 people in 2008 .. (with only MS and no Publications, 1 patent pending).
I have PhD and fairly OK track record. The same above lawyersthink that these days , USCIS is asking so much international recognitions and citations that these demands are unreasonable demands.
Question:
Do you think for PhD's or advanced degrees, the USCIS may be more lenient ?
Question:
Are there any updates from USCIS on EB2, (employer sponsored) ?>. OR EB1B .... and Possibly EB2-NIW or EB1A ?
Question:
How will the process of making illegal immigrants legal (as in Obama policy) affect the Legal immigrants ? (PhDs ) or advanced degreed ?
Question:
Is there a Green card quota issued every year that US allots total ? If yes, then will allotting illegal immigrants AOS or green cards chew up the quota for legal immigrants ?
I guess there is 7 % per country Quota
Question:
How does it affect petitions for researchers who have worked in National Interest in past OR are of extraordinary ability ?
Please help.
I would really appreciate your help.
thank you
