EB3 to EB2 category change?

HI,
Currently I am in EB3 category. My priority date is Nov. 2006. I finished my MBA (Masters degree) in 2009. I was doing contract jobs since then, and recently got a full-time job. I got my EAD in 2009 and since then I have been using it and have not used my H1B which expired in July 2011. I have over 7 years of IT exp. How can I switch to EB2 category? What is the process and do you suggest to stay in EB3 category depending on my priority date.

You CAN switch from EB3 to EB2.

You have to file an amendment to your original certified I-140.

Note that the original position mentioned in the Labor certification petition should be consistent with EB2.
