Your filing is not concurrent if I140 was filed first and then I485 filing happened based on the I140 receipt. This explains why two got separated and I140 approved when VSC started to look at september i485. You might get lucky and may be I485 gets approved in few weeks.

Do you think they have already started looking at Sep 2002 485s? I thought they are still in Jan/Feb 2002.
My lawyer feels I may not get my I-485 for another 2 years since 485 processing officially starts only after 140 approval.
I have a different theory though. I believe the 485 should come through in the next 6 months. No one knows how they will handle it since there are no approvals yet for 485s filed with 140s or based on pending 140s.

I think it is the misconception which is spread by ambitious attorneys. If you file I140 and 485 at the same time the clock starts ticking for both of them. Typically 1 year wait for I140 and 18months to 24 months for I485. Between I140 approval (assuming it happens after a year) and I485 approval the gap can be anywhere between 6 months to a year. I have seen few approvals for December 2002 also. You could check the VSC tracker forum and look at the PDF file compiled by some senior members. Officially the date is Jan 31st 2002, but unofficially VSC has approved app from all the months till Dec 2002.
