Hello everyone,

My EB1/OR case in NSC was approved 10/12
rd 10/14/99
rfe response 9/25/00

details,

13 letters 5 + 8 (rfe).
original letters: 3 from US and one each from India and Germany. for rfe, 1 each from India, Japan, mexico, israel and germany, and 3 from US. I had my PhD advisor write an additional letter for rfe (he wrote one with petition) just listing the grants and awards he has won for which my work provided the basis.

9 papers
1 US and 1 German patent applied
2 book chapters
15-20 presentations
co-author in several invited talks (~7)

I provided Journal citation reports for the journals I have papers in and present the comparison that those were the journals with high impact factor in my field. also provided circualtion figures for whatever journals I could get those figures and also for the book that I have chapters in.

Also gave the significance of places (if any) where the talks were given.

two international awards. a national award and two research grants as stated by my PhD advisor in his second letter.

5 citations, I dont think just citation count matter any more unless they are huge in number. I did however give newspaper clipping, and some small articles reported about our research work in various trade magazines by others. I gave publishere of maganzine and their circulation figures (if available)

Again, I doubt membership in professional societies (which can be bought by money) matter anymore, I am sure they used to work a few years ago. I had 4 invited membership (mostly for being good student) and I stated that.

My boss usually asked me reveiw papers that come to him. I had him write a letter stating that he had relied on me for critical review of journal manuscripts. Again I gave the significance of journals from their publishers and citations report.

The lessons I learnt: The rfe letter though general was very specific in what INS needed. INS required sufficient documents to substantiate each achievement that I claimed and also how your achievements compare. I prepared the covering rfe document myself (not my attorney) and addressed each point within all of the 7 categories. Got most of the information from internet. The perfect presentation of information is extremely important.

I learnt more on this board than what I learnt from my very reputed attorney. Thanks to all

Congratulations.

I totally agree on replying for RFE. You need to specific
and very well organized. I also learnt way more on this
board than my attorney.
