EB1 or EB2 category?

I am currently working for a Non-profit Research Organization under my H1B visa. I am planning to apply for my Green Card. My collegues told me that they applied under EB1 category directly for I-140 without Labor Certification. But they hold a Phd, but I hold only a Master's degree. So will I still be eligible to apply for GC under EB1 category without Labor Certification or should I apply under EB2 category with Labor Certification or EB2 with NIW. Any information regarding this will be greatly appretiated.

Thanks in advance.

Ph.D not required !

I think you can qualify for both EB1 or NIW even if you dont have a Ph.D. Ph.D is not a requirement for these categories. Most important factor is how good is your research work publications, presentations, citations, recommendation letters, awards, new reports, whether you acted as reviewer or a judge etc.. Overall you should be able to prove that your work is in National Interest and would substantially benifit USA. If you think you have enough accomplishments under your belt to outshine your peers then you should not worry about not having a Ph.D. degree.

thats correct!
If you are able to prove outstanding reseacher qualities then u are there for Eb1-OR &
Also, if you prove in addition to that u have Nations interest related work...niw is suitable.

Thanks for ur response. I have a Master's Degree from US and am in research for 2.5 years now. I currently have no papers presented. So will I sstill qualify? I would be able to get Recommendations letters from my employers without any problems. Please suggest.

There are two things basic qualifications and passing qualifications. You do qualify for first but relatively have to work harder to set straight for second. You have no papers means difficult situation for Eb1-OR. Letters from employers are important but will not lead to success u need letters from independent researhers to attest that u are outstanding researcher. patents, citations, reviews, awards, etc are important....for NIW u can give try based on nature of your work and ur qualifications to do that.....

You still qualify but then you have really prove your self. Timewise 2.5 years of expirience is not much compared to your peers in the research field. If you have no publications then How do you plan to prove your original research work was accepted by your peers? The reviewing officer needs to prooof along with recommendation letters. For example if your letter writter says you did excellent research work and is widely accepted then you need to show published proof of you article and presentations. They cannot just rely on letters it need documented proof or evidence. Please list all your qualification and details of your acheivements for a appropriate analysis.
