EB1-Extraordinary Ability approved at CSC in about 2 months...

I recently (last week) got my I-140 EB1 petition approved at CSC. BTW, it took only about 2 months for the I-140 to be approved. The process seems to have been fast-tracked. Probably thats why there are higher chances of goof ups:
In the I-140 form I had requested that Adjustment of Status will be filed. I did not request Consular Processing, yet the approval notice says that: "..The petition has been approved and sent to Department of State National Visa Center (NVC). NVC processes all approved immigrant visa petitions that need consular action. It also determines which consular post is the appropriate consulate to complete visa processing. The NVC will then forward the approval petition to that consulate.." Also, At the top of the notice the consulate mentioned is Chennai. My questions are:
1) How come the INS assigned CP to me when I did not even request it?
2) How come they decided on Chennai consulate? I had not given any India address on the form or attached documents and my home address in India is actually near Delhi.
3) Can I still request the INS to correct this problem or is it too late for INS to do anything? They state on the notice that questions should be directed to NVC and that I should allow 90 days before doing so.

I would greatly appreciate any suggestions.

Dear Friend:
I can\'t help you with your question but I would appreciate if you could please post your qualifications, which helped you in getting EB-1(ea)

The INS often approves cases for CP even if not asked to. It gives you both options. You can ALWAYS file AOS if you are in the US. NO additional action needed, just file I-485.
The opposite (doing CP when approved for AOS) would require filing of I-824, which is unnecessary hassle for both you and INS. This is why they approve for CP and let you choose.

I submitted documents and evidence showing:
1) Ph.D. in Civil Engineering
2) US job experience - 3 years
3) About 20 publications in journals and conferences
4) An international scholarship
5) Some minor national awards
6) Memberships in professional organizations
7) Five reference letters
8) Detailed letter from employer about job and my qualifications

BTW, I prepared and filed the entire application myself.

Thanks for the info!
Means I should file I-485 at CSC? I hope they have copies of my case eventhough they say they have transfered the case to NVC. If the NVC contacts me at a later date, after I have filed I-485, I hope this wouldn\'t create any confusion. Do I need to wait for further info from INS or NVC before proceeding with the AOS option?
Thanks

All you have to do is to file for AOS and ignore everything that you receive from NVC (packet 3, to be specific). The INS then will do everything themselves, including requesting your file from NVC, if necessary.

It\'s a routine procedure. IF still not sure, do some search at www.imminfo.com - they have extended info on CP vs. AOS issue.

Dear H1B:
I have similar qualifications to those you have posted and am also
considering filing for EB-1 EA myself. I have heard that the cover letter
is a very important part of the petition. Could you please email or post
a sample of your cover letter. That wouldbe of considerable help to me.
Thanks
