EB1-EA Self Filing Information Resource Thread

Hi All,

I just recently found out about this forum, and joined it today. It seems like there is a HUGE wealth of information here in the collective knowledge and experiences of the members!

I am a performing artist who just moved to the US with my spouse. I am thinking of applying for the EB1-EA category (my spouse is currently filed in EB2 by his employer) , and I have already obtained 5-6 support letters from eminent personalities in my field. Reading a number of posts here, it seems to me that with enough information and preparation, it might be possible to do a self petition, after a couple of consultation sessions with a good lawyer to verify that everything in the package looks good.

As a step in helping myself and others who are contemplating this approach, I would like to request the Gurus to share their experiences with Self filing. Specifically,

1. What self filing kits/ websites/ other sources of information did you find useful?

2. What are the various components of the application package? Links to these forms/checklists, etc if any?

3. What are the different steps/stages of the application?

4. Info about good lawyers based on peoples' experiences?

Hopefully we can gather the valuable experiences of the members who have gone through the process in one place (and perhaps make it a sticky), which would be a tremendous reference manual for others !

Thanks,

topgun8532,

I self-filed my EB-1 EA I-140 in music field, so my situation was similar to yours. Search through my earlier posts, you might find some useful information, including input on cover letters, document checklists, etc. As for more basic questions such as "What are the different steps/stages of the application?" - that sort of general information is available at many immigration websites - first of all, www.uscis.gov. Good luck!
