Hi,
let me know what you guys think of this case. My case is quite dissimilar from most EB1-EA's, so I wanted to ask whether anyone has heard of similar cases getting approved/rejected or just what you think.
The area of expertise would be "software engineering / computer science."
I have 0 publications.
I think I could establish "top few percent" in a few ways:
-- I went to one of the top universities in the US, earned a Master's degree. My academic advisor could provide specific evidence of how I was among the top 2-3% of computer science majors at this university, and also relate it to the low admission rate at this school, resulting in an even more smaller group.
-- In high school (in foreign country), I participated in the computer science counterpart of the "international math olympiad", i.e. a contest to determine the best young computer scientists. For each country, the selection process of who gets to go to this international contest is already very harsh: only the top 4 out of a few thousand applicants may go (and there are strict tests, administered by university professors). At the actual olympiad, I ranked again in a very small percentage of the already tiny fraction of people selected from teh pool of applicants in each country. I could get letters from administrators of the national selection process and the international olympiad (all university professors) describing this and discussing my abilities.
-- my current work is on a project that there has received extensive press coverage about, however, no press coverage mentioning my name. However, an outside authoritiy in this field coudl discuss my impact on this product.
-- furthermore, i, handwaving, meet the "criticial role, high renumeration, scholar work" i guess in some sense: critical role--this is a key project (evidenced by Execs or news articles) for this company (which is well known) high renumeration--compensation is in the top 5% of software engineers at this company (and also industry), again could receive letter certifying that, scholar work--a few patents (albeit on all coinventor)
I think all the main areas (college, high school contest, work) could really well establish that I am in a tiny percentage of top ppl in this field, with evidence justifying actual 1-3% numbers. However, there is a lack of publications which everybody seems to have at least some of, and a lack of indepdent expert (or, enough independent experts).
Let me know what you think! Do you think this case is hopeless? Or do you think it looks good? Or do you think I need to think of additional independent experts? How many would you recommend? E.g. independent experts endorsing the competition and its reputation and my achievements in it?
Oh, and do you think EB2-NIW might be an option? Or is EB1-EA better given my background?
Thanks a lot for your highly valued opinion!
