EB Statistics FY 2007

Why? Shouldn't the eligibility of Employement Green cards purely based on merit?

At the end of FY 2007 it happened based on the DoS and USCIS mess and disorganization, and their incapability to know how to manage green cards numbers during the year.

It looks like they approved 3 times more EB green cards for India than they should ~ 27K , and almost 5 times more in EB3 category than they should > 17K.

I hope they will not do it this year

I am not sure how this year would be, but the report itself is very interesting to study.

All of Africa used less than EB-2 India or EB-2 China. I am surprised to see few big numbers for Canada.

Quite interesting. Thanks for sharing.

Sheesh, as i suspected, India has taken more than its share of Greencards.
Instead of being pissed at India, i think i am pissed at the buggers that don't know how to count!!

As part of AC-21, in the final quarter of a financial year, USCIS has the discretion of adjudicating cases while ignoring per-country limits.

Of course this is true, when cases from other countries are NOT approvable. So a lot of cases (besides from India/China) might have been in NC-stuck or other stages and were not then approvable. USCIS did the right thing than let those numbers go waste. To those who have been waiting for GC, besides, from India-China, this might appear to be grossly unfair.

Of course now that the new 180-day NC rule has come into effect, a scenario like this might not play out again.
