EB-1 Outstanding Professor V. Outstanding Researcher-Any Difference?

Hello All,

Long-time reader, but first-time poster. I am impressed by the quality of the discussion and advice in this forum.

I am thinking of applying for EB-1 (outstanding professor) category.

Here is my question: are outstanding professors and researchers evaluated separately. I ask this question because after reading much of the posts in this portal, it seems like many of the applicants/posters are researchers predominantly concentrated in the hard and bio-sciences, whereas my background is in economics and social sciences. And I don’t quite fit the category of outstanding researcher, which seems more directed towards physical, chemical, bio-sciences, comp science, and math.

Here is my brief resume.

Ph.D. Big Ten U.S. Institution
Ph.D. (3 years, transferred from mid-level state school)
MA: Large U.S. State School
MA: Leading University from South of India
BA: Leading University from South of India

Additional Training
3 Different Specialized Summer Schools Programs conducted by East Coast Schools

Present Position
Tenure-Track Assistant Professor—Completed 3 years of full-time teaching-research experience at reputed private liberal-arts university in New England
7 years of Independent Teaching Experience
5 years of Research Experience (worked on some grants with other professors as an RA)

Publications and Awards
11 Publications
10 Conference Presentations
Bunch of Teaching Awards (Two major during Ph.D. and one competitive finalist as an Assistant Professor (but did not win the award)
Couple of Small grants and Travel Awards (grants are difficult and not the norm in my discipline)
Preparing a book manuscript expected next year in published form
Memberships in leading academic organizations within my discipline (nothing like the NAS, etc)
Done Some TV/Media Commentary

Now, here is the catch—my publications are modest and I can’t quite claim that I am huge international star or that my pubs have a high impact ratio (actually, there is no such measure within my discipline). But, I know that I have strong teaching credentials and a decent publication record. I don’t want to sell myself as an outstanding researcher, but as an outstanding professor under the EB-1 category. I am sure I can garner about 5 or 6 letters, more if needed, but I don’t want harass my colleagues and peers.

Could any of the wonderful commentators and gurus, please advise as to what are the chances of this application making through. What additional strategies that I could pursue to make the application work? Any help and suggestion is much appreciated.

Cheers
