Hi,

As many already know, I have a petition pending under NIW. My company is also sponsoring me for a GC. I would like to know what your opinons are about my chances with OR. It appears to me that my biggest hurdle is "international recognition". I am pretty sure that I cannot get a letter from Europe or Japan. How else can I show international recognition or how can I get past this hurdle?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

hi trojanblue,

i think you have a great chance getting proved under EB1-OR. just find some ref. letters to show your impact. also, if you got citations from foreign researchers, ask them to write a letter for you. i got letters from France, Italy, Singapore, China, and also email inquiry from Germany, USA.....

I cannot. Most of my conference presentations were about results from new products and/or techniques. These are not papers that are cited. In any case, these presentations were more to let the scientific community know of the latest developments. Hence, I got a couple of letters from people in another industry who were willing to testify to the usefulness of the products. My problem is that I am not in academic research but product development. I need to find a way to get past the criterion for international recognition.

I bet with you a lot of money that if you write to 10-15 scientists in Europe and Asia which work in somehow related fields as you that in about 3-5 months you will have at least 5-6 recommendation letters from them. You have to send them your CV and conference abstracts with your first (careful) email when you explain them your situation. In this email you have to offer also that you will send them a template for such a letter. This template has to be tailored to their background. Go on each webpage and look at their CVs and think about what would you write about your international recognition in their case. I have no doubt that several scientists will be willing to help you, it only depends on your first email and an excellent template, that is at least my experience.

Thanks honkman. I'll try this route once again. I did that with NIW case. Some rejected, some did not bother to reply and some who said they would help did not do it in the end and I ran out of time. I'll try once again before I craft the OR petition. I'll use the same recos I used for NIW and if I can find some more, i'll use them too.
