I easily called IIO this morning...

SYJ: i heard from AVM that my case was approved. Since I changed address, may i know which address the notice was mailed to.
IIO: case number & name...
SYJ: eac-02-037-5xxxx, syj...
IIO: mailed to ...., your new address.
SYJ: thank u so much. i do have 1 more que: I mailed EAD renewal the day of GC approval, will INS still handle this case, should I cancel the $120 check or anything ?
IIO: well, typically, when they start processing, they will check the case status first. If 485 was already approved, then there is no need for a EAD, thus they will not continue process the case, you don't have to do anything...
SYJ: thank u so much, bye...

Well, to aviod loss of $120x2, i probably will cancel the checks (cost $5 each in my bank) just in case they charge me on their time of opening my envelops...

Thanks

Before you do not cancel your check, read this:

Keep in mind that your check is always checked before the review procedures. This is to say, the first thing INS would do is classify your petition, get the money, before they would go on with your petition.

Days ago there was a post, which stimulated many followed, talking about the whole procedures how INS works on your petition. Read this more carefully and you will see if you can get that money back.

Good luck.

I agree with Cole. Be sure of what you are doing. They will first encash the check and then look at you application. If the check bounces, I don't know what they will do. If they simply return you application since the check is bounced, that would be good. Else, they may fine you and that would be fine too. Check with your lawyer before you put a stop payment on your checks.

thanks syj, for the info

However, I am going to be cautious on this as others have suggested.

If INS does what the IIO says and my checks never get encashed, I'd be considering myself lucky and I will spend that money on somethings that I've always wanted :)

syj, with your luck in getting thru, the next time I want to talk to an IIO, I'm going to call you and you have to conference the IIO in.

thanx Cole and v_a_rao for the info

i will find that thread, and then decide what to do... guess the $120x2 will be gone...
