My girlfriend and I have been living together for more than a year. I've had my GC (obtained through employment) for about 9 months. She's a US citizen. We are planning to leave the US and live in my country for a period of time between one and three years. I've been reading about the requirements to maintain a GC, it seems obvious that I will need to file for a re-entry permit. We have plans to get married at some point in the future but are in no hurry to do so. My question is, would it be easier for me to keep my GC if we got married?
Also, if we come back to the US to visit her family once or twice a year, do I run a risk of having my GC revoked, especially if the re-entry permit has not been approved yet?
