early fingerprinting in LA ?

I have received FP notice with appointment for Aug 3, 2005. I decided to go ahead and do FPs earlier since I have planned a vacation in the begining of August. I saw some people here on the forum showing up for fingerprinting earlier than scheduled, and I myself during the GC process did FPs way before the scheduled date with no problems. Well, last Friday I was denied entry into INS ACS here in LA by a security guard. He told me that they don't do early appointments and that I should come at a scheduled date. I told him it was bullshit, and that I need to get it done earlier because of vacation plans etc. He would not let me in. The ACS wasn't busy at all, and there was no reason whatsoever for him to get anal. My question is - has anybody ever had experience of getting FPs done earlier than scheduled? Should I try to get past the security guard (who I think should not have authority over these matters) and try to get somebody from ASC staff to accomodate my request? I would hate to start adapting my life around INS again as in the past when they screwed up with my GC causing all sorts of delays that cost me a lot of money, probably better jobs and pay, and a lot of dead nerve cells (most people on this forum can relate to that!).

I did get FPs done early. But I was lucky and the security person was very nice. In anycase you need to be nice to INS people otherwise things can only get worse. I suggest you try another date and ask politely.

I wasn't rude to him at all. The "bullshit" word is a figure of speech I used here, I just told the guard that it is not true that they don't take early appointments and that I would like to be accomodated because of special circumstances. He dismissed me right away. He was treating everybody, not only me, with some sort of condescending attitude.
Again, I wasn't rude but I definitely will not try to please some jerk who is guarding the door. I may try another day as you suggested, FoxyIdiot. Your experience tells me that it is at the discretion of the security guard then (sad but true)

Good luck to you!

I haven't got my FP notice yet, and I am thinking about doing early FP, too!
Have anyone done it sucessfully in San Francisco DO ?

BTW, any drawback by doing early FP ?

Drawback of early FPs - FPs used to expire in 15 months. meaning if your application did not get looked at by INS within 15 months after FPS are done, then FPSs become invalid and they will have to re-issue a FP request for you, meaning more papework and more wait. If the processing times are less than 15 months (which they are), than I think the earlier the better. I don't know exactly how it works with FPs, but somebody mentioned that if you take FPs at a later than scheduled date, there's a risk that your file may be put into the end of the queue.
Try the SF ASC. When i lived in SF I found generally people there were much nicer and more relaxed, than here in LA. You may get lucky and get your FPs done earlier. Good Luck!

My FP was scheduled on JUl 26, 2005 at El Monte office, but I went to Downtown office last Friday and got my FP done in different location and three weeks earlier than actual date.

You should go back and try again. Before that I have tried two times in Fairfax office, they did not let me give FP, because they were really busy.

Keep trying....

This is a news to me, early FP. Very useful one I have to admit.

Just a question, are most FP centers open every day or one can show up for early FP at only specific days?

I will probably be in a similar situation, not being able to attend my FP at the designated date so if that happens I want to explore this option of early FP in timely manner. Thanks to everyone for their answers.

shakhti73,
Good idea to try another location! Downtown LA? is that on wilshire? I would really love to be done with these FPs before August...
As for hours of operation - I think they are open every day 8am-4pm Tue-Sat (yes, Saturday!). But you should check with particular location what their hours are. As you can see, your "early" fingerprinting is at the discretion of a security guard...

Your best bet to do early FP is to go on Wed or Sat Afternoon. If you look in the FP notice it says that if you want to reschedule your choices are limited to Wed or Sat afternoons. If not many people reschedule then the ASC is likely to be less busy during those times.
