Earliest Time to apply to EAD ?!

Guys I ve qeustion
Watching people stuck for months to renew their EAD is scary. No one wants to lose his job while waiting for EAD.
I know somebody who tried to renew his EAD 8 months before it expires and the application was denied because he applied too early.
My question is : what the earliest time to renew EAD? If anyone has experience, I would appreciate their input

you can apply 6 months before your current EAD expires, here is the link
