I have to renew my EAD 3rd time. Since I have been working on H1 and it is valid until Jan/07. Should I need to renew my EAD again? My lawyer says, it is always good to keep in the file. Why? Please advise. Thanks.

You really don't need an EAD ... the lawyer says that 'coz he presumably makes money when filing your EAD ??

If you are not going to change employers suddenly or start doing part time work, you don't need an EAD.

But remember having an EAD gives you the option to change employers suddenly (incase you find a irrestible offer, or you get layed off) and also to do part time work/second job.

Bottomlin is its your personal choice and not a requirement. There is no harm in having EAD as backup. Also remember you can file for and EAD yourself, and do not need your lawyer for that. Its a very simple process.

In my case, when I applied for my EAD I got the fingerprinting notice. I always wondered if my EAD application prompted the FP notice. I filed the EAD myself for me and my wife. It is a very simple process. You don't need to pay a lawyer. Having EAD at hand gives you more options.
By the way, eventhough I had my EAD with me, I never worked using that. I was on H-1 until the I-485 approval.
Hope this helps.
